Depth and Texture:

Using a single letterform, create a dynamic composition with depth and texture.

1. no focal point in the center of the page

2. use a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 values: black, white, and three greys

3. design should have a sense of depth

4. design should have a feeling of texture

Figure Ground War:

Create a design in black and white, using multiple letterforms, in which it is impossible to distinguish the foreground from the background.

1. use as many letters and shapes as you need

2. all letters and shapes should all overlap

3. your design should use equal amounts of black and white

Single Letterfom :

1. Relative proportions must be the same (use the letterform as a single shape)

2. Use a minimum of 5 letters - there is no maximum

3. Design must be 8.5 x 11

4. Design must be Black and White

5. The design should continue to circulate the viewer's eye around the page, leaving no dead holes or extreme points of concern in which to get stuck 

6. The shapes can touch, but they should not overlap.

7. Your composition should be dynamic
